8The Russian Investigative Committee has informed U.S. lawyer Jamison Firestone, Sergei Magnitsky’s former law partner, that it found no grounds to prosecute Olga Stepanova, the former head of Moscow Tax Office No 28, and the person who approved the majority of the $230 million illegal tax refund uncovered by the late Sergei Magnitsky. Следственный комитет освободил от ответственности руководителя налоговой инспекции, одобрявшей возвраты из бюджета на миллиарды рублей, Ольгу Степанову
8 ноября 2013 года – Следственный комитет России сообщил коллеге Магнитского Джемисону Файерстоуну, что следствие не нашло преступлений в деятельности Ольги Степановой, возглавлявшей московскую налоговую инспекцию №28, которая одобрила раскрытое Сергеем Магнитским хищение 5,4 миллиардов рублей из казны под видом возврата якобы «излишне уплаченных» налогов.
«Доказательств, достаточных доя предъявления обвинения Степановой О.Г. либо другим лицам по ст. 286 или 285 УК РФ [превышение полномочий либо злоупотребление служебным положением ] не получено», – сообщил Следственный комитет России.
Следственный комитет сообщает, что в рамках уголовного дела «проверялась законность действий сотрудников ИФНС России №28 и 25 по г. Москве при возврате в 2007 г. денежных средств из бюджета РФ.»
Следственный комитет уведомил, что также прекратил попытки допросить других налоговиков по делу Магнитского.
«Следственные действия, которые можно произвести в отсутствие обвиняемого, выполнены, за исключением допросов ряда свидетелей, местонахождение которых не установлено», – указано в сообщении, полученном из Следственного комитета РФ.
Ранее в ответ на жалобы коллеги Сергея Магнитского Джемисона Файерстоуна следствием сообщалось, что оно было не в состоянии допросить заместителей Ольги Степановой по налоговой инспекции №28 по г.Москве – Елену Анисимову и Ольгу Цареву в связи с пересечением ими российской границы.
Напомним, как указывалось в заявлении Файерстоуна в Следственный комитет 15 апреля 2011 г., на бывшего мужа Ольги Степановой Владлена и на ее заместителей Анисимову и Цареву вскоре после одобрения ими возврата ранее уплаченных налогов из бюджета в Дубае были приобретены роскошные апартаменты стоимостью в несколько миллионов долларов.
Ранее о том, что в деятельности сотрудников налоговых органов, одобривших перечисление из казны 5,4 миллиардов рублей, на счета преступников, не найдено нарушений, сообщили в Следственном департаменте МВД РФ.

Magnitsky’s Mother and Widow Along with 54 Famous Politicians, Human Rights Activists and Victims Call for European Magnitsky Sanctions at UK Book Launch of Magnitsky Book Tomorrow

The widow and mother of late whistle-blowing lawyer Sergei Magnitsky along with 54 famous politicians, human rights activists and victims of human rights abuses are calling on politicians to implement Magnitsky Sanctions in Europe.
In the opening word to the new book, “Why Europe Needs a Magnitsky Law?”, Magnitsky’s mother Natalia urges European politicians to show courage, like her son had done despite being tortured in custody, and to enact the Magnitsky sanctions across the European Union, similar to the law adopted last year in the United States:
“My son’s life was short… He chose not to compromise himself and paid for that with his life… I do not believe that the law adopted in the US is anti-Russian, but that it introduces targeted restrictions for certain people failing to respect human rights and that this is fair, even if insufficient, punishment for them. And I hope the countries of the European Union will find the courage to follow the US.”
The Magnitsky sanctions comprise visa bans and asset freezes on individuals responsible for Mr Magnitsky’s ill-treatment and killing, the cover up of his death in custody, and other human rights violations. The sanctions have been imposed in the US under the “Sergei Magnitsky Rule of Law Accountability Act” which were approved with an overwhelming bi-partisan majority in the U.S. Congress and signed by President Barack Obama into law on 14 December 2012. Swedish Police Have Removed the Russian Arrest Warrant Against Mr Browder from their Databases

The Swedish police have informed William Browder, the leader of the global justice campaign for Sergei Magnitsky, that they have removed the Russian arrest warrant in relation to him from Swedish police databases.
Following Mr Browder’s successful campaign to impose financial and visa sanctions on the Russian officials who killed Sergei Magnitsky in the United States, the Russian government retaliated by launching politically motivated criminal proceedings against him in Russia, which ended in the conviction of Mr Browder in absentia for nine years along with Mr Browder’s murdered lawyer, Sergei Magnitsky, posthumously in the first ever posthumous trial in Russian history.
